The capital of Burgenland is a perfect link of the charme of a small city and the fascination of cultural variety.
The Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Austria and presents a fascinating view of the resplendent life once lived at the court of the Princes Esterházy. The Palace Park is one of the most beautiful landscape gardens of the 19th century, with 4 lakes, the Leopoldine Temple and the Orangerie.
Bergkirche - Haydnmausoleum
The Kalvarienbergkirche, called Haydnkirche, is one of the most beautiful baroque churches of Burgenland. You can also see the 200 figures made of wood and stone on the unique Kalvarienberg.
Below the north tower is the burial place of Joseph Haydn - the Haydn-Mausoleum.
The Haydn House Eisenstadt – the former residence of the famous musician and composer is now a museum.
Follow the marks of Joseph Haydn on the Haydn-path through Eisenstadt.
The Jewish museum in Eisenstadt was founded in 1972 and was the first Jewisch museum in Auftria after 1945. You can visit the former privat synagogue and the museum, and also the old "Judenhäuseln" and the two jewish cemeteries.

The Neusiedler See is a paradise for water sport enthusiasts: sailing, kitesurfing, stand-up-paddling and canoeing or simply swimming – because of the mild climate and the warm water the surf season starts already in April. Seven seaside resorts, with shady lawns, children´s areas, playgrounds and swimming islands, offer fun and relaxation.
Nature lovers can discover the extraordinary flora and fauna of one of the largest steppe lakes in Europe. The Neusiedler See cycle path leaves nothing to be desired and horse lovers can gallop through the steppe.
During December the lake turns into the largest natural ice rink of Central Europe, where ice-skating, ice-surfing and ice-sailing is possible. Even cross-country skiers can practise their favourite sport on the 15 km cross-country ski-track.
Forchtenstein Castle is the emblem of Burgenland. The baroque wall paintings are considered the largest north of the Alps. The castle is also called "Treasury of Esteházy" because of the family valuables, the baroque art collection and the military objects.
Every year in July the festival with the "Burgmaus Forfel" is a fantastic knighthood-fun for children.
